The UK Department for Education has launched a brand new website that’s designed especially for parents, providing them with the information, the support and the resources they need to help children enjoy the school holidays and prepare for the next academic year. It’s also got information the summer schools running throughout summer 2021, as well as summer activities to keep children of all ages entertained during the sunny season.
You can check it out here: https://educationcatchup.campaign.gov.uk/
The site is aimed at the parents of students across the board, from the very youngest of us just about to start preschool or nursery to those re-taking their A-levels or heading off to university in the Autumn. It features links to programmes, activities and video content that can boost children’s learning, with dedicated catch-up content for both 4-16 year olds and 16-19 year olds. The site is also home to a dedicated section on mental health, with information on how to find mental health support for your child and your family when you need it.
The Education Catch-Up site also has a section created for the parents of SEND children (children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities), which explores the ideas of tutoring under the National Tutoring Programme, and eligibility for the 16 to 19 Tuition Fund.
